Alt fashion magazine began back in 2006, originally Alt fashion started out as an alternative fashion website the result of mammoth research following what at the time was a lack of resources for alternative fashion within the UK.
Altfashion.co.uk launched in March 2006, showcasing articles on alternative styles, city guides, & fortnightly news updates around the UK.
Interest in the site grew quickly & from there the decision to create a magazine as an accompaniment to the site was born.
The very first issue of Alt fashion magazine launched in July 2006, continuing from the website to look at UK designers and styles, with a pinch of international talent.
Alt fashion magazine was recieved with open pvc clad arms by companies, sites, and readers across the country. With such a warm welcome the magazine continued, running with a 4 issue print run per year.
Everyone from independent designers, to well known companies such as Drac in a box & Heavy Red were featured in those first few issues.
Taking a more underground approach to showcasing alternative fashion talent across the UK.
Since then the zine has also grown & changed plentifully over the years; now covering a wide range of designers & shops, with features from events, artists, articles of interest & much more printed 3 times a year. Focusing on content more fitted to the print medium.
We've featured a plethora of talent from the alternative scene over the years and issues. From breaking talent such as Miss Fortune & Stockings and romance, to well loved labels such as Lady Lucie, Prong & Black phoenix alchemy lab.
Putting some of the best known talent on our covers, Lenore, Amaranth, Roswell Ivory & Pyretta Blaze are just some of the models who've graced our covers since our launch.
Alt fashion is now read as far across the globe as New Zealand & Canada, and reaches a vast global audience.
With the 6th birthday of our magazine this year we're looking ever more to continue well into double figures and hopefully expand across the country to more outlets and independent shops.
We're proud sponsors of Dr Sketchy's North wales & Chester, and since 2010 we've been media partners with London edge. 2011 also saw us launch the digital edition of our magazine.
